Equine-Assisted Counselling on the Farm

A Gentle, Different Way to Heal with Horses

If sitting across a desk has never felt like the way to open up, you are in the right place. Since 2019, we have offered counselling out on the farm: walking and talking in the fresh air, with a horse alongside us as a calm, steady partner.

Horses have a grounding presence that helps both kids and adults settle, and the farm gives us a safe, forgiving space where nothing is rushed. There is no waiting room and no clock on the wall, just time and room to breathe. Together, we get to the root of whatever brought you here, one step at a time.

Who We Help

Counselling Support for Children and Adults

Whether you are reaching out for your child or for yourself, there is a welcoming path here for you.

For Children & Teens

A Gentle Way In
for Your Child

Getting your child into counselling should not feel like sending them to the principal’s office. Here, it is a gentle walk and talk on the farm, where the horses help kids relax and open up in their own time. Most of the young people we work with are between the ages of 8 and 15, and every child sets their own pace. For many kids, time with the horses does not feel like counselling at all, and that is exactly the point.

For Adults

When Counselling Has Never Quite Clicked

If you have tried counselling before and it never quite worked, you are not alone, and it does not mean you are out of options. Sometimes a different setting is what helps things finally open up: out in nature, moving instead of sitting, with a grounding horse beside you. We work with adults on stress, anxiety, grief, workplace strain, and the seasons of life that feel too heavy to carry alone. Whatever it is, we stay with it until we understand what is really underneath, because that is where change begins.

How We Can Help

Counselling Services

Anxiety, grief, family tension, or something you cannot quite put into words yet: whatever the concern, we work together to get to the root of it. Sessions happen out on the farm, at your pace, with the horses as gentle partners in the process.

Equine Assisted Learning

Hands-on time with the horses that builds confidence and calm. Learning to understand and work alongside a horse teaches patience, healthy boundaries, and trust in yourself, and those lessons follow you home.

Horse Powered Reading

A comprehensive reading program that takes the pressure off learning to read. Horses make wonderfully patient listeners who could not care less how many tries it takes, which helps kids relax and discover that reading can feel good again.

Why Families Trust Us

A Registered Clinical Counsellor, Qualified and Trusted

Trust matters in counselling, so we will keep this plain. Our counselling is provided by a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), also registered with the BC College of Social Workers (BCCSW), and we hold certifications and qualifications in this work that many other counsellors do not.

You will find us at welcoming partner farms across the region: Riverhaven Farm in Pitt Meadows, Finding Your Stride in Deroche, and the North Fraser Therapeutic Riding Association in Maple Ridge. From these three farms, we support families across the Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver. Wherever we meet, you are in experienced, caring hands.

The First Step Is Small
Let’s Solve This Together

You do not need the perfect words to take the first step. Reach out through our contact form, and we will connect at a time that suits you for a free 15-minute call. It is a relaxed conversation about what you are looking for, how the process works, and whether the farm feels like the right fit. If it does, we will book your first appointment as soon as possible, and you can come meet us, and the horses, out in the field.
